Fuel Price Increase: unavoidable
The fuel price increase lately in this country has shocked many people, especially those who live under the line of poverty. It also strikes those who live not far above it. The increase in fuel price means the increase in prices of goods in general. And the increase in prices of good in general means more suppressed spending power. More suppressed spending power means lower monthly cash flow. More and more people get stressed because of this increase. The increase in fuel price is unavoidable. Why? Because our country exports raw oil and imports gasoline from Singapore much more than the amount of raw oil that our country exports. Consequently, we suffer from deficit. Because of this deficit, our government has to decrease it subsidy on fuel price. If our country wants to be more independent in the matter of fuel price, our government must have its own technologies to render our raw oil to its ready-to-use products. Otherwise, our country will keep exporting our raw oil to foreign countries which will process it into gasoline which will later on be imported by our countries. As long as this dependency persists, the fuel price will always be rocketing and Indonesian people will suffer from it. |
